Hello to Everyone!

Well friends, I’m finally blowing the dust off and wiping away the many cobwebs from the neglected corners of the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa blog…it’s literally been ages! I do hope you’ve all been well and I’m really going to try my best to stay in touch here more often. I just suddenly felt inspired to attempt a post at long last…now I’m not even sure if anyone is still out there to even read it but there might be, you just never know!

I thought it might be fun and perhaps even bring a smile or two to peek into some of our latest guests picture files, courtesy of course from Bunny our very own spa photographer. She has graciously sorted through and selected a few spa client “before & after” snaps to share with you below. So thank you Bunny for all your talent and of course the time you spent sifting through those crammed file cabinets in my office with the stuck drawers, better you than me honey! Note to self, have Daffy pick up some WD-40 at the hardware store…

Speaking of pictures, Vera just happens to be sitting right here with me and is insisting on sharing a photo of herself to kick things off that she keeps framed and on proud display on her desk out front…she says it helps “bring in business!” and I of course don’t argue. Taken not by Bunny mind you but by renowned photographer Ernesto Padro-Campos, a dear friend of the Pink Bubble’s Doll Spa and whom I’ve also not chatted with in quite a while and surely miss…so if you’re visiting the blog by chance Ernesto, a very warm hello from me and all the Pink Bubble’s girls!

At any rate, to start off the picture show properly (and at her insistence mind you) we present the ever lovely Vera Frost…captured here in her prime (according to her) by Ernesto! A newly-singled gal who also wants me to casually mention just happens to be “back on the market” since her latest romance ended “so abruptly, so tragically, so cruelly” (her words)…well we’ll have to save that story for another time won’t we Dear…so without further ado, shown here to her best possible advantage (and angle) a gal who is once again available for a last-chance romance Fellas, our very own Pink Bubble’s Doll Spa guest receptionist, Ms.Vera Frost…

Quite lovely I have to admit! Now I was never blessed with the looks of Vera, and really who has been if you think abut it, but I can say I’ve always had better luck than her the poor thing! If there are any takers out there I suggest chocolates sent here to Pink Bubble’s directly to get off on the right foot with her…she won’t eat them of course, only pinches the bottoms. How else do you think she stays so skinny? But don’t worry gents, she’ll be impressed and the tasty treats are always a big hit in the break room with me and the girls!

Pink Bubble’s Staff Booked-In For “Rest” Cure!

Hello Everybody!

Just popping in to let you know the girls and I have at long last taken a spa hiatus after many years of non-stop bookings! We will all be “resting” (at an undisclosed sanitarium) for the duration of Spring per Dr. Jaquith’s instructions.

Bookings will resume in the summer months of 2019 and we look forward to meeting many new guests here on the floor then! Thank you all for your continued support of Pink Bubbles Doll Spa and of course your patience in waiting for us to return from our “retreat”…hopefully cured of our nervous conditions!

A Pink Bubbles Swan For Spring!

“After many a summer dies the swan…” or so the saying goes, but not when she wisely books an appointment with Vera here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!

Well dear readers, Spring has finally sprung here in sunny California and while Dame Nature is certainly busy outdoors awakening the blossoms and trees, our staff is working just as hard indoors reviving the long dormant beauty of our clients. Like a little ugly duckling or a sleeping garden, sometimes you never know what lies just beneath the surface waiting to bloom, but when it does…it can be a thing of beauty indeed!

Though the bloom may have been off the rose so to speak for a recent guest, our Pink Bubble’s Swan for Spring has reemerged as fresh and lovely as ever!

Sometimes, you just have to roll up your sleeves and get to work…and that’s just what we did for Mateo’s #4 Ponytail Barbie! She was pampered head to toe here at Pink Bubbles and enjoyed all the services included with her spa package visit.

Assisted by Daffy, Miss Roberts enjoyed our Pink Bubble’s Beauty Bath followed by “Body-Brite!” vinyl service which not only addressed the darkening of her complexion but also took care of some pink staining that had unfortunately spread well away from her lips…

Next, a fresh hair set was in order with Barbie’s requisite bang curls returned to their former glory!

On to to the make-up department where everything from brows to lips were discussed with Bab’s and re-painted with care…

The finishing touches of a fresh manicure and pedicure were left in the capable hands of our manicurist Madge, while Beatrice went through her stock of pearl and golden hoop earrings for the perfect finishing accessory…Barbie chose hoops!

A picture’s worth a thousand words they say and Barbie’s final results left us all…well, speechless!

Episode Two of…The Secret Storm!

Hello Pink Bubbles Doll Spa followers…thanks for tuning us back in!

After a very busy morning on the floor, the girls and I have finally flipped over the “Out to Lunch” sign hanging in the front window and positioned ourselves in front of our little black & white T.V. here in the break room. Of course we’ll have our lunch but more importantly it’s time to escape reality once more and lose ourselves in our favorite afternoon story… “The Secret Storm!”

(Many thanks to Kathleen for the promised follow-up episode since her girls arrived home from their extended stay here at the spa!)

So sit back, kick those shoes off and enjoy…you know you want to!

When we last left the Gabrielski sisters they were in route home, fresh from their dazzling transformations here at Pink Bubbles..

The gorgeous weather of California was quickly becoming a fading memory for Dr. Marcia as she tippy-toed through the freshly fallen snow of her native New Jersey and slipped into the passenger seat of Angelo’s rumbling red Buick at the airport. Abby and Bobbi Sue settled into the back seat while Marcia’s “boy-toy” tended to the bags. The wolf-whistle Angelo gave the sisters when they first got off the plane was confirmation to all that their fresh looks were indeed a hit!

Heading straight to the office was a must as after all Dr. Marcia had a business to run and trips to Los Angeles weren’t cheap. Arriving at the dental office, Angelo put the bags in the storage room while Bobbi Sue checked the messages. Two emergency root canals took priority…Father John from church and Harry the neighborhood plumber…yet another divorced “man about town” who many of the single…and even some of the married local ladies have their hungry eyes on…

“Hire him Dear…he’s absolutely perfect! I mean…these dirty dishes ARE stacking up…”

With appointments made and the work completed, a grateful and pain-free Father John gifted the sisters with six tickets to the St. Valentine Dance held at the church that coming Saturday night. After all, the girls were knock-outs and his congregation who were mostly over sixty would enjoy a bit of valentine eye-candy he was sure! In quiet celebration of the news Bobbi Sue took a little hit of laughing gas unbeknownst to her sisters…she is going to “try to change” she silently promises herself once again…

On the morning of the dance, the Gabrielski sisters went shopping for new gowns at “Lora Lee” the best dress shop in town:

With the help of their little cousin Casey who works there part-time as a sales girl, the debut looks were selected…and were quite stunning!

By the way, Casey too actually had her own appointment at Pink Bubbles and really digs her results!

With the gowns selected and the sisters looking better than they have in years, the only thing left to do was decide who their lucky escorts would be…

Will Dr. Marcia be on the arm of the dashing Angelo that evening…or will she attend with her possibly soon to be estranged husband? Will the Valentine’s dance inspire Sean to finally propose to an increasingly impatient Abby? And finally, will Bobbi Sue find the strength to resist the laughing gas, the wine bottle…not to mention the prescription pain killers and find a decent man of her own…wait a moment, does Harry the plumber like cats?

We’ll all have to wait and see what happens on next episode of… “The Secret Storm!”

Oh my, I swear I can’t believe how fast thirty minutes can fly by! Oh well, it’s back to reality as I’m off to my station once again. The clients are getting restless in the lounge and Vera says I’m booked solid till six…I better get a move on!

Sister, Sister, Sister So Fair!

Happiest of greetings Pink Bubbles Doll Spa followers…if there are any of you still out there! I do hope so but I’m frankly slightly afraid I’ll hear nothing but crickets after such a long absence…but I’m posting this entry anyway!

I know my dears, it’s been ages since I’ve sat down and given you all a “fly on the wall – behind-the-scenes” glimpse inside these pink velvet and golden foiled flocked walls of Pink Bubbles…so let’s just jump right back in!

To come up to date with all of you, the spa is still very busy with clients constantly coming and going…almost too busy at times with no rest for the wicked or obviously any time for blog posts either apparently! Our staff continues to work very hard keeping this cruise ship afloat and all our Pink Bubbles guests looking their absolute best. By the way Vera, Daffy, Beatrice and Madge asked me to send all of you their love!

Speaking of staff, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the newest member of the P.B.D.S. family “Bunny” who’s come on-board as our official spa photographer…so big “Pink Bubbles Hugs!” to  our very own Bunny! Such a sweet girl who really knows her way around a flash cube I can tell you that! A long-time “shutterbug” Bunny happens to have been a former model herself whose infamous pin-up poses in certain gentleman’s magazines (which I’m sure none of you have seen but your husbands might very well have!) were quite the talk of this small community some time ago…but I in good taste refuse to bring up her sordid past as to keep her personal business private and rely on you to do the same! Bunny brings her “assorted” experiences as a model and her deft work handling a Brownie to the Pink Bubble’s table while working with our sometimes camera shy guests during their very own before & after glamor sittings featured on this very site! I do admit that most guests are hesitant in taking those sometimes god-awful “before” snaps but I must insist as it’s the only way to really see how far they’ve come in the looks department after completing their visits. I’m afraid it’s the price you must pay to become a Pink Bubble’s Girl or more commonly known in this town as a traffic-stopping eyeful!

To start off my hopefully “resuscitated-from-the-dead” posts, I’d like you all to meet the soon to be lovely Gabrielski sisters who flew in all the way from New Jersey!

Dr. Marcia, the eldest of the trio owns and operates her own very successful dental practice:

Middle sister Bobbi Sue is the dental office receptionist:

And finally the youngest Abby, the Dental Hygienist:

As all of you know very well I’m not one to repeat gossip…so you better listen very closely the first time! To tell the truth Daffy is really responsible for most of this information since as you know clients tend to spill at the wash bowl…it’s either Daffy’s skilled hands at “suds-ing up” or the effects of those ever-flowing Apple-tini’s she mixes up in the break room for our guests! Anyway spilled to Daffy and now spilled to you…

Now according to Daffy, Dr. Marcia decided to treat her sisters to this cross-country jaunt, destination Pink Bubbles for Christmas…what a generous Sis! Marcia is MARRIED with two perfect children, perfect business and of course a PERFECT BOYFRIEND (that’s right readers!) who is many years younger than she and works at the deli down the street from her office. She really wanted a spa make-over as she thinks her boyfriend Angelo is getting bored lately and has been making googly eyes at her sister Bobbi Sue!

Remember now, middle sister Bobbi Sue is the receptionists in Dr. Marcia’s office…that is when she shows up…according to Marcia/Daffy/Me and now you! Known as “wild one” Bobbi Sue has never really settled down and currently lives with three cats and two on and off again boyfriends…(Lord help her now possibly three!) Bobbi Sue said she wanted to come to Pink Bubbles because she is so tired of all the men in her life and wants to be able to support herself and the cats on her own. She really needs a raise to do so and thinks this is the perfect time to ask for one during this sister-bonding trip with Marcia…

Now Abby, the youngest is the sweet, smart, quiet one.  She’s the dental hygienist in Marcia’s office. Abby has lived with her boyfriend Sean for ten years now! Sean is very sweet…but there still isn’t a ring on Abby’s finger which is why she wanted to get away to the spa for a “new do” and talk with  her sisters on how to get Sean to propose! Heaven’s to Betsy! I swear I’ve seen this story line on “The Secret Storm!”

This is good stuff readers and just a small sampling of what we hear around here on a daily basis! Now we can’t solve our clients personal problems, all we can do is lend an ear, fill their empty glasses, make them beautiful and of course report back to you!  I don’t know how all this is going to end up but I’ve been promised an update from New Jersey once the gals get home so stay tuned…

Happy New Year Pink Bubbles Doll Spa readers, I hope all your holidays were wonderful!

The girls and I have finally returned to our stations at long last and are very excited to see what beauty challenges await us in the coming year. Imagine, twelve whole months of helping many a “poor thing” return to her former glory…my feet hurt just thinking about it…but as you all know it’s what I and all our staff live for!

So I hope you’ll all join us in future posts as we “meet and treat” the newest Pink Bubble’s patrons who wisely decide to make appointments with our receptionist Vera…who by the way is at her desk right now ready to accept calls on her brand new pink princess desk phone that we all chipped in to get her for Christmas…

“Good afternoon, Pink Bubbles Doll Spa, this is Vera, how may I help you?”

 But before we begin anew, let’s take a quick look back at some very recent clients who ended 2014 on a beauty high-note…

Of course all our guests appointments start in the capable hands of Daffy who always begin their hair transformations with a relaxing Pink Bubbles Doll Spa shampoo!

Now nothing sets off a beautiful face better than an equally dazzling hairdo! And speaking of beautiful faces, these Fashion Royalty ladies all came in requesting fresh hairstyles to start off their new year on the right foot. Here are some F.R. client highlights…

First up is Vanessa from the collection of Fazal:

Frankly, it looks like her hair’s seen things and been places, but don’t fret V., an elegant up-do will make things right!

May we present a style I’ve dubbed “Lora” an homage to Miss Lana Turner and one of Vera’s very favorite films “Imitation of Life”…

She arrived at the spa wearing a rather Nordic hairstyle. The side-swept “Russell”, a popular Pink Bubbles set, may be a better choice for her upcoming film “Uva Amaro” or “Bitter Grapes” for U.S. audiences “who just can’t wrap their mouths around that one!”…her words not mine, I swear!

Hello Pink Bubbles Doll Spa readers!

My apologies for yet another delayed post due to an over-crowded client lounge…but I’m not complaining! Business is brisk, much like the approaching winter weather and the spa’s staff has been super busy helping many a poor thing put her best face, hair and manicured foot forward for the upcoming holiday season.

Our Pink Bubbles header girl may look familiar to many of you but you just can’t place her face…

Why it’s Darrin Stephen’s “Pre-Samantha” girlfriend Sheila Summers of course! What a *itch (and I don’t mean witch!) she was to our sweet Sam!

“Tinkle-Tinkle-Tink!”

Later in the series actress Nancy Kovack turned up again as her naturally blonde self playing the Italian vamp “Clio Vanita” whose sights were once again set on Sammy’s Darrin!

As a blond or brunette, Ms. Kovack was and still is fabulous…and of course the perfect choice for our Pink Bubbles header girl!

Now on to a little peek at just a few of our memorable clients who’ve been in to the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa these last few weeks…

Speaking of going back in time, here is a drop-dead gorgeous #2 from the collection of Steven who stopped by for a little work on her hair only…her make-up is all original and stayed that way!

Barbara’s #3 needed “the works” in the hair department. So much so that a complete re-root was requested and we delivered!

Cut too short and with shorn bangs, a brand new head of hair is a dream-come-true for many a girl in hair-distress!

And speaking of re-roots,

Meet Jaime’s clone sisters “Margaux” & “Margaret”…one’s good and one’s wicked…but I’ll let you all guess which witch is which!

Our clients of late have all returned home of course, but their fabulous before & after results remain in our files as inspiration for even the “poorest of things” to never give up hope!

A Toast To Judy & Connie Champagne!

 All dolls have secret lives as we all know. Here’s a peek into theirs…

Hello everyone and thanks as always for dropping in!

This weeks featured clients both hail from that great city by the bay, San Francisco!

Best friends Esther and Helen made a holiday out of it and took the train down the coast for a bit of shopping and sight-seeing here in Los Angeles for a few days. Now not only had they made appointments at Pink Bubbles Doll Spa for an upcoming special occasion, but they were also on a mission. You see, the girls are collectors, something I’m sure none of us can relate to at all…or am I wrong?!

“Oh Norman, what have you done with the money for the new tires?!”

Long-time fans of the legendary Judy Garland, these two gal pals make a yearly pilgrimage to Hollywood, hunting for treasures to add to their ever-growing Judy collections. Local movie memorabilia shops can sometimes hold a hidden Garland gem or at the very least, an unseen 8 x 10 portrait of their favorite star!

 Of course they always visit Judy’s footprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater and never fail to continue their fun tradition of having their picture taken standing in front of the gates of M.G.M. Studios every year!

Their visit to the spa was of course also Judy related, how could it not be! The girls excitedly told me they had tickets to see “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” starring the fabulous Connie Champagne as Judy Garland when they returned home and wanted to look their very best…just in case they got the chance to meet Ms. Champagne after her show. Who knows, they might even get to have their picture taken with the talented songstress and if they did, they promised to send me a copy!

 Still chatting excitedly about Ms. Champagne’s upcoming show, the girls started their beauty appointments with a trip to the back with Daffy who assisted them with their Pink Bubbles Beauty Bath for Face & Body of course!

While we wait, lets take a peek at what they looked like before they began…

When the girls returned I began with Helen as I instructed Daffy to give Esther a special treatment for her darkened skin-tone.

A reset of Helen’s brunette bobbed hairstyle was done and I followed with fresh applications of eyebrows and needed touch-ups of her shadow and ridges. Colorful lips and a kiss of blush brought much-needed color to her pretty face!

 

With the lightening treatment on Esther’s complexion a success, I re-styled her hair in the classic Swirl hairdo she’s worn for years…and why not, it suits her beautifully! I followed with all needed make-up repairs but chose to  leave her brows alone to keep them original. A pretty yellow hair bow and a pair of “Safety-First!” pearl earrings from Beatrice’s counter were the finishing touches. Of course both ladies had their finger and toe nails done by Madge!

 

I’d say both Esther and Helen’s trip to Pink Bubbles was a triumph! As they gathered their coats and said their goodbye’s to the staff, I shared in their excitement in seeing the upcoming show celebrating their favorite star in song and admit I felt a bit jealous! As they settled their bill with Vera, I wished them both a safe journey home.

They promised to try to get me an autograph from Ms. Champagne if they could as I too am a long-time fan of Judy and truly appreciate any artist who keeps the magic of Ms. Garland alive for us all to enjoy! The girls didn’t disappoint either, because within a few days I received a gorgeous lobby poster from the performance signed in person to me from Connie Champagne and I just love it! I really look forward to seeing these gals again next year here at the Pink Bubbles Doll Spa!

Hello everybody and welcome back to Pink Bubbles!

This weeks clients have all come and gone but their wonderful “before & after” results remain in our files for us all to enjoy!

So if you’re ready…

 

“Let’s go!”

First up, from the collection of Sheryl comes “Cupids Kisses” Barbie:

Unfortunately “C.K.” didn’t live up to her promo pics and needed a little help after an initial at home comb-out. Using her official Mattel glamor shot for reference, I started from scratch and whipped up a sweet confection of a new hairdo for her.

Looking closer to her original promo pics, this “Holiday Hostess” is now ready to greet her guests…including her sweetest valentine, Ken!

Next a Bubble Cut from Sheryl’s collection…

A relaxing afternoon at the spa with services that included hair plug replacements, fresh brows, shadow, ridges, lips and a touch of cheek blush ended with a “high-color” Bubble…as requested by her owner!

Sheryl’s childhood friend Skipper came along for the trip to Los Angeles and also received her fair share of attention from our Pink Bubbles staff:

A refreshed version of her formal self, Sheryl’s faithful childhood playmate’s day dreams of a “high-color” face finally came true…just like her big sister Barbie’s!

From Barbara’s collection comes this pretty brunette ponytail…

In need of a day of beauty, we started with her hair, returning it to its former days of glory! Special attention was paid to her bangs per her owners request…

They look beautiful now I’d say!

Barbara’s girl came in with all the basics, including the remnants of her original lip color which was color-matched to keep her as original looking as possible. Fresh brows, shadow and touch-ups to her lids made Barbie feel like her old self once more! Of course a kiss of blushing to the cheeks and a pair of “Safety-First!” replacement pearl earrings from Beatrice’s tray added to this beautiful finale!
